This year's rally was held in a real castle! We grilled Friday evening over an open fire in the moat and then sat around watching the embers glow until almost morning. After a hearty breakfast on Saturday we mounted our trusty steeds and followed Helmut on a tour of the Schwaebische Alb. We filled our bellies and quenched our thirst in Eybach among the ponies, fish ponds and playgrounds. Unfortunately for our american visitors, a hurricane had hit their hometown and so they decided to head to the airport Saturday evening and try to get back home to see what was left of their house (fortunately, they had little damage). Roland kept us entertained with his guitar by the campfire in the evening and we we're all a little tipsy and hoarse when it was time to hit the hay! It was a wonderful weekend with lots to explore and good friends to share it with. We've even already reserved the castle for next year!!
