Never More Schwarzwald Rally
August 6-8, 2004
Alpirsbach, Germany
A Left Lane event
It
was the largest attended Schwarzwald rally yet. When I asked Susy how many
people were there she said just over 50!! We're going to have to rename
this rally at this rate, it just keeps getting bigger each year. We had
quite a few sidecar rigs attending, a couple of them with families of four in
them! The campground was celebrating their anniversary and so there were a
few extra attractions this year. Saturday evening there was an outdoor
disco, Sunday a surprise visit by the fire department and a live band
afterward. The campground owner was even more stressed than usual and was
even a bit more of his usual "direct" self. Murmerings of
choosing a new campground for next year were heard among the troops. In
spite of the owner, it's a lovely situated place with lots of activities for the
kids.
Our
Saturday tour took us to a castle with a nearby waterfall. We ate outside
at the restaurant, just as most of us were finishing our meals, it began to
pour. A few of us wound up staying and drinking coffee for a couple of
hours until it finally let up. The ride back to the campground was foggy
and wet, but that's what Gore-tex was invented for!! The rain subsided as
we returned and the stars came out to make a lovely evening. We made lots
of new friends and renewed a couple of old ones.
So Bill, now you're committed, for a rally that you weren't sure was going to get off the ground, you've sure made a success of it!!
